Ruger 10/22 Takedown: Where??

I take it the distributers are out? Usually you go into your LGS, say I want a such and such, and they get on the phone and say they can get you one in a couple of days, would you like to start DROS now. Or they say ha ha ha, nobody can get those, and send you on your way.

I went to my LGS, and they told me it was on order for 3 more months. He told me the frenzy has really eaten up stock...usually obtaining a 10/22 is no problem.

I'm going to head down to OC Guns and Gear today and see how my luck goes. If not, I"ll call Big 5 and/or Dicks. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

These have been allocated for a while but I do get them once in a while. They don't last long at all. I would say if you see one buy it. I personally don't see a need for a heavy takedown 10/22 that you can't mod with existing aftermarket barrels and stocks but I guess that isn't the reason to buy a takedown 10/22

also, not sure if you're into it or not, but AGP makes a takedown kit for the regular 10/22, it looks pretty sharp

if i didnt have my ruger factory version, id probably go this route, its a bit more money, but if a takedown is what ya need.

i picked my takedown up from the local Turners a few months ago and even then they only had the one in stock. they were pretty popular prior to this whole recent panic deal, and imagine they're well out of stock now.

i got the last one at my local big 5 in poway san diego! i stopped to chat with the manager since ive been dropping buy there for awhile now and he said that 2 guys tried to buy it before me but had insuffiecient funds! good luck. cant wait to get mine out of jail i already ordered the agp folding stock but i was wondering if anyone knew if when it is folded will it still meet the minimum of 26 inches total? 26 inches total is the law right? since it can still be fired from the folded position would it be an sbr?

I know it can be done but then doesn't that defeat the point of a takedown? For me a takedown should be lite weight for backpacking or to take someplace where you have limited room. The 10/22 TD is expensive if you want a heavy barrel target gun. Also, if you are going to do a heavy barrel TD gun the you should mount your scope on the barrel like with a VC barrel like in that link. This lets the barrel and scope always be aligned so when it is taken down and reassembled you won't suffer off your mark.

Im aware of the flowchart. I was just asking if anyone knew from what they have read/heard or from personal experience about the OAL with the agp stock folded since i do not have my 10/22 takedown(still in jail) or the agp stock(shipping).

defeats one of the points to an extent (weight), but it still allows to be discrete and low profile (opposed to a shoulder slung/full length bag).

I still have the original barrel and can return it to the lightweight version is used on extended backpacking trips.

barrel mount may be a future addition will only do so once it can be completely warranted. currently still breaking it in and finding ammo it likes to eat
