GSG 1911 22LR

Anybody have a GSG 1911 22LR? What do you think of it? Strong points?
Weak points? Looks very interesting at a reasonable price.

Just got one. Seems pretty good so far. No issues so far, after about 200 rounds. Good 1911 ergonomics. Accurate enough, given the fixed sights. All good.

I like the feel of the gun and it has been fun to shoot and I have very few malfunctions. On the down side, plastice sights that are adjustable for windage. For elevation you get 3 different height front sights. There are reports of guide rod problems and the finish is ver thin. I use a black pen tocover up the scars on the barrel. On the 1911 Forum there is a huge sticky on the gun and its issues and fixes.

I've had mine for a year now and it runs fine. The finish is weak and I used Rust-Oleum Dark Gray Primer #2089 to touch it up (almost a perfect match) when I added the bobtail.

My friend bought one and I don't like it at all. The look and feel are nice since it's like a full-size 1911, but it didn't shoot reliably enough for me. I experienced a lot of FTEs and the slide would rarely lock back after the magazine was emptied.

Bought mine a long time ago and shot a bunch of ammo, all kinds, through it with little or no problems. Last week the recoil guide rod broke and I have been looking on the web for a replacement (ATI said a new one was in the mail). Plus's are almost everything "real" 1911's use will fit the GSG. I have changed out the trigger, fiber optic front sight and have a mag-well, extended mag release ordered. I'm trying to copy the 45 and .38 super I shoot on weekends.
Negitives seem to be the guide rod and I stripped out the threads on the rear sight due to it being plastic and I was dumb. Looking to replace the rear sight with a metal one when I find out a compatable one.
If you want a 1911 but not the cost of .45/9mm etc I recomend the gun. A real fun all day shooter that is, to me, pretty accurate right out of the box.
