You need two cylinders if SS is 22WMR and 22 LR

I believe Orangeusa said that Single Six'es are supposed to have two interchangeable cylinders, one dedicated to shooting 22Long Rifle, and the other 22 Magnums.

                Yup

Spend some time on Rugerforum.com . I had a 1959 22WMR and it was marked as such. You have a nice gun, enjoy it.

It has a lot of holster wear on the edges but lock up is tight and timing is great not many rounds through it found a ruger factory chart gun was made early 58. Still don't know for sure if it was supposed to have a magnum cyl I guess I'll buy a thing of mag and see if they fit ? Isn't a magnum case slightly bigger than a lr ?

Ruger's website has a spot you can look up the serial number and also download the manual. I sold a 22 mag cylinder and it was roll marked around the rear with 22 Magnum - it was probably from a 1970's gun.

This one says nothing on the cyl. So if its 22lr I can shoot shorts an longs in in right ?

Here is a link to the Ruger site where you can figure out what year it is by serial number and also download a manual. They offer a free conversion for the old model single sixes where they install a transfer bar (I think) to prevent it from going off if it is loaded with six and is dropped on the hammer. http://www.ruger.com/service/productHistory.html#
