    S&W M&P22 - sites and ammo

    Hi all and Merry Christmas

Picking up my M&P22 CA tomorrow! I have a couple of questions-

I have a set of factory rear M&P45 sites- will these install onto an M&P22?
(only thing I didn't care for during my test drive of the 22 was the blank, black rear sites)

From what I have read, CCI 40gr Mini Mag is the best ammo to break in the M&P22 with- I picked up 300 rds last weekend- Any other recommended ammo I should be looking out for to feed my new baby?

    Thanks all!

i shot three different 36 and 40 grain round nose and hollow point through mine the second i picked it up. about 300 rounds non stop hahaha.

    great gun, i love mine!!

i took my sights right off after the first day and put a midrange red dot on it.
Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

I've put a bunch of ammo through mine and have found excessive barrel leading with lead bullets. use copper plated bullets for best performance. CCI mini mags, Remington bulk lead were terrible, accuracy at first was good but barrel leading came real quick.

Gun gets dirty quick and will suffer from failure to ejection problems. You might want to bring a bore snake or brush and rod and clean it every 100 or rounds and lube the slide rails until it broken in.

Thank you for the advice all!

Picking it up at 10am and heading to the range

I'll be shooting through the last three 100rd boxes of 40gr mini mag I could find in the east bay and I have some copper plated 36gr federal in case im not ready to leave after 300rds.

Ill be sure to take my .22 bore snake- Any recommendations of lube to use at the range? (i use breakfree clp on everything I own currently)

Breakfree CLP should do fine. Just be sure to clean all the shipping grease out of the gun before you shoot it. Do a thorough job of cleaning it all out, as the gun is packed full of it!

I took my M&P 22 out last night for the first time and shot about 150 rounds, mostly CCI MiniMag 40 gr RN and 36 gr HP. It functioned beautifully. It even shot my friend's awful Remington Golden Bullets and digested them better than my Model 63 revolver!

            What a great little gun!

Great advice Eyelawdoc! It was as greasy as I've ever seen new from a factory, soaking wet! Ha

I gave it a good wipedown then appropriate lubrication on all metal on metal action parts

I put through just over 200 rounds at an indoor range- 100rds 40gr CCI mini mag, 75rds 36gr Federal bulk, it even ate 3 mags of dirty 36gr Winchester

I kept it wet along the rails, not a single fte/missfeed! So far so good

Anyone looking for a fullsize .22 to train/plink with should consider the S&W M&P22...
