Mag disconnect on the M&P22, keep or remove?

Is there a practical purpose for a mag disconnect on a 22?

What are some reasons for keeping it?

My intended use for this pistol is general...plinking to carrying on my hip while fishing or hunting. It isn't intended for SD but if it's what I have at the time...

I'd yank it, having no use for magazine disconnects in general. In many cases, removing it improves trigger pull and it is meant to protect stupid operators from themselves. Don't be stupid, follow the basic firearms safety rules, and you don't need it.
