Shot my buddies G22, bad experience!

The thing would not shoot at all!

My buddy who is a RO at Angeles brought over his Walther G22 as I was shooting my AR yesterday, and asked me if I wanted to shoot it. Do I???

So he loads up 10 rounds in the mag, and hands it over to me. I release the bolt, and the round gets stuck half way up the feed ramp. No problem, eject that round and try again..same thing.

I literally shot 2 rounds out of a possible 20. Spent more time trying to fix his rifle than I spent shooting my own guns, and nothing. We used hollow point rounds, CCI mini mags round nose, everything we had on hand. NOTHING!!

Anyone ever have this issue? It did seem dry, so I lubed but the problem continued..

Suggestions anyone?

I have no idea what firearm this is, but did you try more than one magazine. Probably the obvious place to start.

We did try both mags, same thing.

I have an ISSC M22. Runs CCI Blazer (non-plated, lead, round nose) very nicely.

Winchester hollow points won't feed. CCI AR22 (brass plated, round nose) FTF about 50% much to my surprise. I thought the brass plating was to facilitate feeding.

So the rounds would seat all the way if they got lined up right with the chamber?

I have seen it where the whole back of the rimfire case separated from the casing leaving the walls of the case stuck in the chamber which is hard to see if you don't look for it, but in that case no more rounds would chamber then at all till the busted case was removed.

The mag would seat flush, no problem.

Pulled the bolt back and the round would load half way up the feed ramp. When I would try to give it a little force to feed it, it wouldn't budge at all.

Some rounds would appear dented after ejecting them, others where in perfect shape.

I personally think the feed ramp and chamber is tiny, but it's not my gun so I don't know the tendencies of it.

Lead bullets (and apparently brass plating) are very soft and gets hung up easily on the feed ramp or chamber opening. Add to that bulk 22lr is very inconsistent as far as manufacturing tolerances is the reason why you'll have issues with many semi automatic 22lr firearms. Bulk 22lr can leave a lot of junk inside your firearm as well.

I tried Mini Mags too, and nada.

I don't know, maybe the rifle is defective.

how did the surface finish of the feed ramp look? Maybe some smoothing/polishing would do it some good.
