    s&w model 48 grip replacement

I have a 4" 22 mag i'd love to get bigger grips for. my pinky and that whole portion of my palm hang completely off the bottom of the grip.
I'm confused by what i'm finding online, it looks as though newer model 48s come with a larger grip. the local shops just want to sell me rubber grips, no thanks. S&W's website has some on their site but i'm uncertain about the fit. any help, suggestions? thanks

my current grips look like this

Kinda confused here- your S&W model 48 should be a k-frame square butt. The first picture that you show looks like a stock photo of a 2.5" S&W 66, which is a k-frame round butt. Any k-frame square butt grip should work. I'd check in over on the S&W forum to look for nice original S&W grips: http://smith-wessonforum.com/.

Or, you can go to the S&W site and order them from the factory and get raped for $80:http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...layErrorView_N

    Good luck.

S&W forum is a good place for definitive answers on Smiths. I also have never seen a round butt Model 48; you either have a modified gun or a special order of some kind. Standard "magna" style service grips won't convert a round butt to square, or at least they'll look and feel funny. You need "Target" grips.

However, S&W "Oversized Target" square butt grips will usually fit a round butt gun, converting it to square butt as far as your hand is concerned. I'd ask S&W about that. They also used to have specific factory grips for converting round to square. They looked just like ordinary square butt oversized target grips to me.

Any square butt K frame grips should fit fine.
