    gsg 522 sd

Well i broke down and bought a gsg 522 sd for a plinking- small game gun, went to the range and shot 250-300 rds thru it w winchester x ammo....well you can guess what happened....ftf,fte, all of the above problems that now i know comes from the ammo, (should have used cci mini mags in hindsight!!) but the problem is not that it goes farther....long story short i had chunks of lead in barrel about 6in from breech coating the inside of the barrel! Im not sure, but is this normal for any gun let alone a 22lr, or a problem with just this gun. Has any one had this problem? Also how can i get all of it out? i got 90% of it out but cant seem to get rest of it out. thanks for your help

Not normal for a .22lr. Some lead build up may occur but should not in that many rounds. Thousands of rounds thru my bolt action .22s and very little lead build up. Might be the ammo. Semi-autos tend to heat the barrel more than a bolt action so if shooting fast this may contribute to the build up.

Plug the end of the barrel with a foam ear plug and fill the barrel with Hoppe's #9 and let is sit for a day or two then use a brush to scrub the barrel. That should remove the lead. Be careful that you don't damage the crown at the muzzle.

Its happened to me with winchester super x and a different brand .22 auto. Caused a lot of leading and several case separations.
