Need help choosing a scope

I'm waiting for my 795 to get out of jail and have been looking at getting a scope. This is my first rifle so I've never purchased a scope before. Is it best to get a rimfire scope or can a centerfire scope work as well?

So far I'm between these scopes, trying to stay in their general price range.

I'll mostly be shooting at an indoor range and the occasional rabbit hunt. I noticed the BSA has an adjustable objective? Any recommendations for an illuminated reticle rimfire scope?

A centerfire scope is usually parallax free at 100 yards. A rimfire scope, usually at 50 yards. An AO/adjustable objective is a plus on a RF scope to eliminate parallax errors on the shorter distances that RF are usually fired at.

Instead of buying and replacing cheap POS scopes as they fail or disappoint buy a good one once. Weaver's RV4 4x28 Rimfire and RV7 2.5-7x28 Rimfire are excellent scopes that will look good on your rifle and last a lifetime. Review

Spend your money once, don't waste it on numerous cheap, crappy scopes. I did, so learn from my mistakes.

Im going to second the Nikon Prostaff The bdc it a great option if you plan to hunt with it

I have a Mueller APV on a Razor 22LR. Nice optic w/AO at a good price point.

Let me state: I am cheap, real cheap!. So this is not a case of " Lets throw a lot of money at the problem, and see what happens" Go for a little more bucks a buy a good scope. I have a Nikon Rimfire and love it. That is after going though a bunch of cheap scopes. Total cost of all the cheapies, more that the Nikon.
Cheap scopes have poor clarity at high mag. If you are target shooting a spending alot of time looking thought the scope, this become irriating quicky. Can even give you a headache. Some will not hold zero, adding more fustration.
I know, it does not make sense at first to spend just as much on the scope as the rifle. But it is still the best investment you can make. So save your pennies and go for good glass. You will not regret it.
