Getting an Henry Survival AR-7

I have been wanting one of these for a while, and decided it was time.

Looked around and the best local price I could find was $265 plus tax and DROS, about $310 OTD.

I hadn't even thought about the new gun counter in the Base Exchange until a co-worker mentioned that they could probably special order it.
I stopped in today and started the DROS and paid $25.00. It will be in in a couple of days, so I. Should be able to pick it up on Pearl Harbor Day and I don't pay anything ($201.??) until I pick it up

OTD price totals ~$226.00 and that includes the $25 DROS.

Gotta love a price $64.00 below normal retail and also not having to shell out sales tax to the PRK.

Basically it is a nice light rifle (2.5 lbs) primarily for my bug out bag. I will be plinking with it a bit though. Probably run a bunch of ammo through it to break it in well.
I have read that the action can be a little stiff to start so it may jam on occasion until broken in a bit.

The last .22 rifle I owned was an old single shot Springfield that I bought off of the grandson of a Boston Mafia Don (Gennaro Angiulo) back in 1975.

Nice cheap ammo, and light to carry.

I will be DROSing a Henry on Wednesday when I pick up my 1911. I never thought to ask on base about pricing and availability. Maybe for my next gun. My LGS treats me pretty good and is closer than the base anyways.

I have the older model and other than being picky on ammo it has worked great. It's not a tack driver but it's a fun gun.

If I could find one of these under $400. I'd buy it in a heartbeat as a bug-out rifle.

I had one for a while, and I wasn't a fan. It's cool that it can break down and float and whatnot, but I found that it was super picky with ammo and had TONS of feeding/extraction problems.

Also, it can be damaged by dry firing it, which definitely not a good "feature" to have in a rifle without last shot hold open.

If the 10/22 Takedown had been around back when I got the Henry, I definitely would have gone for that instead.

Mine is a couple years old(2-3 tops), and other than some jams and failure to fires with cheap bulk ammo, I have had no issues. The thing works like a champ with CCI. ENJOY! I have a nice cheap scope, but have yet to go get some rings that fit the rail to attach it. Been lazy I suppose.

congrats. i plan on picking up a 10/22 Takedown sometime after the new year begins, but for awhile i've had interest in the Henry AR-7; perhaps there's one in my future.

Since it's a Rifle some FFLs will let you add it to your pistol DROS when you pick up your 1911. Walk out with both.

I do this all the time and did this recently.

It is a M6 Scout Rifle. Intended to be used in a survival role for downed pilots.

My buddy has one, I've shot it a few times. The 410 is totally manageable and the .22 is fine too. When it was last sold you had a choice of .22lr or .22 Hornet both over 410 shotgun.

Savage makes one, but its not a break down gun.

Thanks for the heads up! It lacks alot of the things I love about the M6 (stock holds no rounds) but could be a decent alternative.
