New 10/22 tapco @ range today

I got my 10/22 Tapco out of jail today and took it t. I shott rem bulk ammo, Aguilla 60 gr and CCI quiet 40 gr. The CCi did not cycle at all and the Aguilla was flawless. I'm going to try to go again tomorrow to try it out with a 2-7 NcStar scope.
Report tomorrow with target pics no matter how badly I shoot.

Waiting to see how it goes. Don't be surprised if the Aguila ammo keyholes. Lots of folks have problems with a 1:16 twist barrel being able to stabilize that 60gr bullet. Some do however so best of luck.

Well I just got back..nothing to show I went through 75 rounds of rem bulk just to get it on paper at 25 yds. Pretty sad, the Nc-Star scope was off by over a foot low and close to a foot right out of the box. Took almost forever just to find my point of impact. By the time I was able to pit anything together I had to come home. I'll go again tomorrow and give it another shot....pun intended

With a new scope / mount, I usually shoot at a dirt clod on a hill or berm first to see where the shots are going. It's easy to see the dirt kick up even when you are by yourself. You can do your rough adjustments to get to "minute-of-dirt-clod" before starting on a smaller paper target. Saves time, ammo and frustration.

I was at ASR some time ago, there were a bunch of long range precision rifle shooters there, who had been out in the desert shooting in high winds the week before.
One guy could not hit his target or figure out where his rifle was shooting.
One shot into the dirt berm and we could see that he was about three feet to the right...he had never brought his scope back to center after making adjustments to compensate for the wind the weekend before.
This was an experienced shooter, bringing to mind an old racing rule:
"It happens to the best, and it happens to the rest".

Be sure to re-check all mount and scope hardware for tightness a couple times during initial shooting until you are sure everything has bedded in.
