The 510 safety is supposed to go on automatically when you work the bolt. Your malfunction might be in that area. I used to collect the 500 series Remingtons. Great guns.

The safty seems to work correctly.
I think I'll change out the sear.

My 510-X will decock if you lift the bolt handle all the way up, hold down the trigger, then push the bolt handle back down. Supposed to work that way. Seems like a complicated mechanism. Maybe something haywire with that?
