Need help restoration project

So a couple days ago i picke up an old wards western field model 84 c made by either mossberg or savage the front of the barrel is pitted and i have no idea how to go about it do i get a new barrel or is there a way to fix it im so lost

shorten the barrel and add new dovetail/sight $75 or add scope.

new barrel from Numrich or chop it off and add a scope

Take it to a proper gunsmith in your area and see what he recommends.
