Pretty sure there isn't an illegal 15-22 version. Only things that are illegal are suppressors or hi-cap mags.
Fun as hell to shoot. Be sure to get one with a threaded brl in case you ever move out of CA so you can buy/use a suppressor. Or there are some good fake cans/brl shrouds you can buy that screw on to the threaded brl... that's if you even want that.
