So I have been thinking about buying a Ruger 10/22 now for awhile, what do you guys think about the 10/22, I've heard good things for the most part but would like some more input, also can you own & use 10/22 Hi Cap Mags, I am not sure if the Hi Cap Mag ban includes 22LR or if that law just refers to larger calibers.

The 10/22 is a hugely fun firearm. The only time I would advise against buying one is if your ultimate goal is to build a competition accuracy gun. Not that you can't make them tack-drivers, its just that there are other platforms better suited to that.
Unless you owned the hi-cap magazines prior to the ban, and had them in-state, you cannot, in general, legally own them now. -
I disagree there are many people that use the 10/22 in competitions. It is a fun gun to upgrade and work on if you like building up from stock or spend the cash to get a custom build from a maker like volquartsen or kidd. The 10/22 is a hugely fun firearm. Same rules apply as with any gun in CA you cannot have a fully assembled hi cap mag, but you can own rebuild kits. There are a couple of company that sell and ship to CAComment

10/22 is a hell of a gun. I've had mine for years. Never really heard anything bad about a 10/22. Lots of options and mods available as well...It's ok to be jealous. We understand your animosity. We live the life you wish you had. And of over 4000 universities and over 1700 division 1 schools, only one is simply known as "The U"Comment

best buy ever, cheap to shoot, easy to clean and very accurate out the box, this is the 1st 150rds down the barrel, 5 different brands of ammo all clean after I switch from brand, yes it shot a li'l to the right but it's all in the center now.
35 feet from target, standing no rest

and the 5 rounds to the "left-center" of the target where 5 brands of ammo loaded into a single magazine to see if it will work, shot all 5 rounds rapid fire with no problem.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.

The little Ruger box magazines are uber reliable and actually prefer them to the 10+ mags. The tri-mag couplers work great and the 10/22 can be what you want it to be: stock, tactical, tackdriver/comp, etc. Just depends on your budget.
Mine is simple. GM barrel with Volk hammer/sear and Hogue stock. Great for Appleseed.Comment
