Yes, I know, another "which dedicated .22 LR upper" thread...

But this one is different, or at the very least doesn't pertain to the typical choices I've seen listed, CMMG, spikes, etc.

I'm curious if anyone has any experience with the uppers listed in the links below. I decided I want to build a dedicated .22LR AR rifle for my son for Christmas and unless there are significant compelling reasons against both, I have settled on one of the two below.

Any and all input is appreciated!

    First up, the TacCom ULW

And next, the Jard Inc J22

    Thank you!

Taccom 100%. Lighter, more accurate from everything that I have read. I plan on getting something from them next month hopefully as well.

Never heard of that Jard was making one, must be very new. Not alot of details on their website. Would be nice to know what the internals are. Is the bolt a ciener type? Is it of thier own design? Is the bolt stainless? Coated? Parkerized?

I do have experience with a Taccom barrel on our CMMG and it is a nice barrel. I think the best of both worlds is a Taccom barrel mounted on a CMMG upper with a CMMG stainless bolt group, I have no experience with the Taccom Bolt but I believe it is a Nickel Boron coated one. More likley the Taccom is a good enough bolt but I prefer the Stainless CMMG
      over the coated ones.

I have experience with the TACCOM ULW barrels but not uppers... That said, I feel comfortable saying that Tim's uppers wont disappoint.

          TACCOM without a doubt.
Ultra light weight. Accurate and reliable.
I run all four of mine with CMMG stainless bolts. None have had a failure.

That TACCOM upper looks very nice. Pardon my noob questions, but is this all I'd need to shoot .22LR from my AR?:

TACCOM upper without bolt and charging handle

The charging handle I already have on my .223 upper

You need the entire bolt assembly including the guide rod, guide rod spring, bolt receiver frame, and the barrel collar...

Save yourself the headache and just get the complete TACCOM upper with the bolt & CH.... Plus you'll get all the reliability upgrades Tim does to the bolts he sells.
