Scope For 10/22 Take Down

I'd like to hear your thoughts on what would be your choice of scope for a 10/22 Take Down. Any additional insight as to why you like a particular scope would be appreciated.

On that link Sosoomi is looking for a scope with a particular size, price and magnification. I'm not putting any restriction on my question.

I don't have a lot of experience using a .22" so I just want to get feedback from experience users as to what their preference are.

I actually have a good knowledge on scopes but there are so many scopes out there. Maybe someone may recommend a scope or cool features that I didn't know about.

You need a short scope for the takedown and I only recommend good quality scopes so the linked recommendation for Leopold rimfire scopes stands. If it weren't a takedown I'd save $80-100 and buy a Weaver RV4 4x28 or RV7 2.5-7x28 rimfire scope but each is 1" longer than it's Leupold counterpart. The RV4 would probably fit though. Here is where they rank compared to other scopes. I would stick with a rimfire scope for that 22. A rimfire scope is set to be parallax free at 50ds (Weaver) or 60rds (Leupold) while a centerfire scope is set to be parallax from at 100 or 120yds. For rings I'd just use $15 Leupold Rifleman rings. The Leopold rings are plenty strong and there isn't any recoil to jar the scope into sliding.

FWIW a matte black scope and rings matching the rifle's stock looks better to me than 3 mismatched shades of silver.

Warne seems to feel the mount and base combo is pretty solid:

When used on the all steel Warne Maxima bases, we guarantee accuracy of within 1/1000th of an inch when removing and reattaching the optics.

No rings on the receiver so it fits in the bag, barrel goes in one tube and scope in the other and everyhing closes normally!

If you are on a budget, you can cut the mount that Ruger gives you and modify it so that cheaper scopes can be mounted further back. This does effect eye relief, so you want to check that first to make sure it can work for you. What you do not want is the scope to protrude more than say 1/2" past the receiver portion of the take down or it wont fit back in the bag properly. In fact it is best if it can be about flush. Personally I have mounted a Redfield Revolution 2-7 and I think it is about perfect for the needs of a .22. Mid range cost and nice clarity. I have sighted mine in at 75 yards and they are pretty accurate. Great survival rifle IMO. Came across a Marlin Papoose for $200 yesterday and passed it by. Everyone else was also.

I will keep the scope size in mind. Another option I may go with is using scope rigs with a quick release lever. I know it may affect zeroing.

I have another question. I noticed some of the rimfire scopes have Parallax Adjustments dial like this one.

I use a cheap Bushnell trophy red dot, no magnification but it holds its zero well and is small enough that I can still fit the gun into my bikes trunk when it's broken down.
