School Me: 10/22 or Dedicated AR Upper?

I was looking at this DPMS model upper or a tactical 10/22.
    Thoughts?

Dedicated Upper all day long... I recommend the CMMG & TACCOM dedicated uppers... Solid uppers, reliable, uses lots of standard AR-15 parts, bla bla bla... Same sh*t i've been preaching for a couple years on here ... My opinion has never changed.

Look, I love the 10/22... I've got a couple, i love them... I also have 3 CMMG setups and 1 TACCOM Ultra Light setup... I prefer them.

    Just my $0.02

Definitley go the Dedicated AR22 upper route. In my opinion it is silly to spend the money on trying to copy something else with parts added to a 10-22.

We have two CMMG uppers. Both with the stainless Bolts. Get that for sure. Well worth the few extra dollars to have it. One of our CMMGs has the original barrel. The other has a Taccom lightweight 17 inch barrel. I have 10-22s and they are nice little rifles but the CMMG dedicated upper is so so much more fun. Our 10-22 never goes with us anymore since we discovered the Dedicated uppers. You will be very happy if you get the CMMG. I have read the DPMS are good uppers also and I would choose that over the 10-22 route but I would choose CMMG over both of them however..

Heres a pic of our CMMG with the taccom barrel. Very accurrate and functions 100% perfect..

The 10/22 is a wonderful 22 rifle and quality AR upper is really cool! If you have an AR why not get the 22 upper ,,, for all the proper reasons

Yup. I got my dedicated AR-22 and now I'm building a 10/22. The AR-22 is a practice gun - plinker. The 10/22 is going to be more of a precision gun.

My CMMG with the Taccom Barrel will do better than a stock 10-22 in the precision category. The stock CMMG will shoot just as tight as a stock 10-22. The DPMS will outshoot any stock 10-22 also. Yes all three setups can be as precision as you want it, just depends how much you want to spend on them to make upgrades..

Do not believe for a second that todays AR22 cannot shoot very accurate and consistently. Advances are being made in the AR22 world over the original Ciener Conversions, the old versions were not nearly as advanced as they are now and were not nearly as reliable as they are now.

CMMG is coming out with a "precision" upper soon and from what I have read and seen test targets from them, the test uppers are nothing short of amazing in the accurracy Dept. We will see how they turn out once they are produced for the masses. Thanks

What ammo are you guys using? I have my ULW barrel and stock on order as well. My older CMMG conversion really only likes Minimags and even then theres an occasional misfeed.

all things being equal its better to have a second gun than a set of parts

Go with the 10/22. Much more fun to shoot.

My CMMGs will more likely run anything. But the only three we have ever shot and it runs 100% perfect with these, Winchester Bulk,Federal Bulk but my favorite to shoot is CCI Standard Velocity, the CCI is a little more cost wise but it is also much more accurate then the other two. Never fails to feed or fire. EVER. Both have the stainless bolt assemblies. I own 10-22s, have my first one I ever bought yet in 1986. The only people that could possibly say a 10-22 is more fun shoot than a dedicated upper .22 is if they have never shot a dedicated upper. Like I said earlier. Our poor Rugers sit in the safe now since we discovered the CMMGs. Never take em when we go. Poor things.

Get a dedicated upper and your 10-22 will become very lonely too. I gaurentee it!
