DERRINGER 22 MAGNUM CAL. HIGH STANDARD

Hi I have a question in regards to a
DERRINGER 22 MAGNUM CAL. HIGH STANDARD.
It was giving to me by my dad & I dont know to much about them & online I haven't had to much luck finding about them either?? If any body could tell me anything about them that would be really cool thanks!

On the left side of the Firearm its marked with:
DERRINGER on the Barrel & 22 Magnun on the side of the Frame.
On the left here's a top latch that kinda hides a 012 #

on the Right side of the Firearm its marked with:
    High Standard MFG Corp.
Hamden, Conn. USA on the Barrel
Above the Right Grip on side running up Serial# D0267x I left out the last number and replaced with x.

I had one in the late 70's, early 80's. Interesting little gun and reliable as I recall. I sold it when the novelty wore off.

The nickel, type-3, High Standard .22 L.R. Derringer pictured above was assembled around 1973, which put it at about 22-years-old when ...

they seem to be a well made reliable derringer. Accurate within about 15 feet or less. They're a little heavier construction to accommodate the 22 mag round. If you use magnum rounds you will have a significant fireball. Many users carry them when hiking loaded with snake shot for rattle snakes. It wouldn't be of much value for larger animals. As for personal defense it would work well to distract your attacker so you could run away (unless you shoot him/her in the eye!

There's not much info on them because there really isn't much to say about them. They're a derringer, they're pretty well constructed, they work................... mmmmmmm......... that's about it. And if you're thinking they're a collectable, no, they're not.

Yeah, those things have been out of production for years (decades?)---still a very small, close-range back-up piece---at least the high cost of 22 mag won't be a problem, not at two shots at a time!

I've seen them from $150 to about $250. If the finish hasn't started to flake off, I'll offer you $200 if you are ever close enough to me for a PPT.

I had one as my very first back up gun. I carried it in a pocket holster. When I was on mounted patrol, I used a few times to shoot copperheads, that were near the stable.

It also had a lot of recoil. The first time I shot it at the range, I fired 50 rounds and the web of my hand was bruised the next day.

I bought it in 1969 for about $45.00.
