    GSG 1911-22 Yay or Nay

I'm seriously contemplating purchasing this gem of a .22( I love the aesthetics and yes, I looked at the Ruger and Buckmark offerings but I can't go pass the way it looks) but waiting approval from the wife. I've read the positive and negative reviews but it seems the negatives can easily be fixed. I'll be using it to throw a lot of lead down range for cheap and maybe show my daughter how to shoot one of this days. Can owners of this pistol chime in? Thanks

          I have one...I love it!

It's incredibly accurate and lots of fun to shoot. It shares a large majority of the same parts as a "real" 1911 and I've been able install Colt parts such as MSH and a non-ambi safety with no issues. And of course asthetics wise you can install any kind of grip you'd like.

There are a few performance parts for them from companies like CW and ZRTS. Joe Bob just came out with a mag followers to give you 14 round mag capacity. It's got alot of aftermarket support IMO, if that is what you like.

My only complaints on the gun are, the finish on the slide is pretty weak. It wears kinda quick. I don't mind it too much and really in the end I feel like it just makes the pistol look well carried and gives it a little character.

The trademarks/warnings on the slide are a little obnoxious too. Especially the GSG version. Sig OEMS the same gun with a different grip and their own slide markings which looks a little better, but not sure is worth the price difference

And extra magazines could be cheaper. They are about $30-$35 ea.

All things said though, it's my favorite .22lr pistol and wouldn't trade it for anything

Good to know you enjoy your GSG pistol. I will try to see if I can look at one tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

                Yay!
I love mine , it has become my favorite pistol to shoot now.
After some break in it has become nearly flawless. Only had 1 FTF out of 400 rounds on my last range trip. And could been the ammo, felt weak when it went off.

I like mine. I've got about 3k through it and it has always functioned great -- not at all picky about ammo; I've run 8 or 9 different types of .22 through it. I put a 1911 flat mainspring housing and slim grips on it.

The plastic 'floorplates' on 2 of my magazines failed -- called and replacments arrived within days. The barrel bushing broke too; I had one in my parts box (unknown origin) -- works fine.

I don't think the quality is great but I sure enjoy shooting it.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

Have one also and love it. No failures at all in around 300 rounds and I like that it has the feel of a full size so can practice shooting one with much cheaper ammo.

Have one and run a few k through it. runs like a champ. I am finding that the pistol really like High Velocity, Velocitor kinda HV at 1675 fps

Love mine, but it is not without flaws. I've changed the grips to Hogues, and changed out the guide rod. I do have occasional eject and/or stovepipes and basically run CCI Blazers through mine. Probably over 5m rounds.

Like the others have stated, I too love my GSG. However, I know of a couple GSG members that have had some serious issues. I am sure Eric will be along to tell of his issues with it. I have put several thousand rounds through mine without any issues.
