    Ruger 22/45 Front sight.

I'd like to paint the front sight of my newly acquired 22/45 with my extra bright orange paint for easier visibility. I tried painting it and the paint won't stick. Anyone has done this before? I appreciate any advise.

Degrease with dish soap and water, dry completely. I imagine there is gunk build up on there.

Next, apply primer (for plastic), let that dry, then apply your orange paint.

I did this to my Ruger's factory sights as well, but I used bright orange nail polish instead. Nail polish tends to 'stick' better than paint from what I've found.

I applied a light base coat of white from one of my paint markers, to make the orange stand out a little better (white out or nail polish will work just as well).

I'll try to post a pic of it later.

Try a touch of liquid paper (whiteout) first, then use a colored marker.

I tried a bunch of stuff, then while ordering a FO sight for my RIA at Dawson Precision website, I noticed they were offereing FO fronts for the 22/45 and at an introductory price of $20, so I tossed that into the order. I'll try them out for the first time tomorrow!

Oh, my rear sight had this white line outlining the whole upper part, it really screwed me up, but a black sharpie fixed that!

You can get a tactical solutions fiber optic @ midway.com for $20 and all it takes is 1 screw to remove and replace. I put a green one on my MkII target . Alot of the targets I use are orange or have orange centers.http://www.midwayusa.com/product/115...er-optic-green

I went with the Dawson presicion fiber optic front sight, i love it. Of course you will need to install ruger's adjustable target rear sight if you don't already have it.

I used the Williams front and rear fiber optic sights on mine. Much better than paint (I've done the paint thing, it sucks).
