Last week I picked my my Ruger SR22 and S&W M&P15-22, and took them out over the weekend.
Saturday:
Indoor range.
Ruger SR22:
-Surprisingly snappy for a 22LR pistol, but super smooth over all and very minimal recoil. Getting a good amount of flame out the barrel. Trigger does have a lot of creep and do wish it was crisper. I put 500 rds through it that day using Blazer 40 gr bulk and Winchester 36 grain bulk. I got FTE from Winchester Super X 26 gr 1650 fps stuff. The SR22 really helps me enjoy pistol shooting which is one of my weaker skills.
S&W M&P15-22:
This is the basic model. Grip is thin and annoying, stock is uncomfortable. I wish I had a fatter grip and better cheek rest on it. Trigger feels like a basic mil spec triggers. I ran iron sights. This thing ate and spit up everything I fed it, and it is a tac driver all the way out to 40 feet at the range (max limit). Making golf ball size groups (5 shot) at 7 yrs and baseball size groups (5 shot) at 13 yards. The combustion chamber (not sure what to call it) isn't perfectly sealed so a lot of gas comes through the grip gap meets the trigger guard in the lower getting all that spent carbon all over my middle finger.
Sunday:
Outdoor range
S&W M&P15-22
I attached a Pursuit rim fire scope on rifle doubling its weight. It was a PIA to zero at 50yrs and I had to use high profile scope mounts plus a half inch riser to even get the scope in a comfortable position to look through. It was a great training tool to use to teach people the basics and how to operate the AR platform. I know it wasn't the coolest rifle on the range, but the girls in my group kept coming back to it over again.
SR22:
Everybody who shot it loved it. I changed the grip to the fuller grip to fill out the palm, and I was told by many different people that its way too easy to shoot.
