Yes, it'll be compatible since your Ruger 10/22 is going to come with a combination scope rail. However, I am wondering why you want to spend $500 on a fancy red dot for your $200 rifle.

I'm wondering the same thing. A better choice would be a $59 Simmons Whitetail Classic 3-9x40 from Natchez. I've got one of those. At 25 yards, it gets a little blurry from 7.5x to 9x, and at 100 yards, it stays pretty clear to 8x. So, it's not a Leupold; for $59, effectively I've got a 3-7x40 riflescope.

But this is a .22LR rifle we're talking about. Even with the Stinger ammo, max effective range is 150 yards, and with most ammo, real-world range is 100 yd. 7x magnification at 100 yards, I can nail a headshot on any rabbit I wish with that scope.

For a 10/22, a $45 BSA duplex-reticle scope will do very nicely. I stuck one of those on a 10/22, and it's been a fine match for this platform.

Unless you have an extra leoupold prismatic laying around I'd just get a very good quality rimfire scope for your rifle. A rimfire scope is set to be parallax free at 50-60yds rather the the 100-120yds with a centerfire scope. The three that I recommend are the Weaver RV4 4x28 rimfire or the RV7 2.5-7x28 rimfire or the Sightron S1 3-9x32 rimfire.

If you don't mind spending a bit more a Weaver RV9 3-9x32 w/AO or a Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 rimfire are great scopes for a 22.

Of course if you have an extra leoupold prismatic laying around it'll work.

leupold also offers RF special scopes that work wonderfully on 22lr...that's what they're designed for...i have two of them.

i would, also, like to suggest, you stay with scopes that are .22 rimfre specific.

I agree with these guys. A Leupold prismatic (while a very nice sight) is a bit of overkill. I've always loved the simplicity of a fixed 4x scope. Leupold's FX-1 4x is one of their lightest scopes and comes with their thin duplex reticle. Thick reticles don't help with a small bullet like the 22.

It also depends on what you want to do too. If its stock try the iron sight or a red dot sight (more fun for kids though it teaches them not to shoot with irons.

I've you have a heavy barrel bench build (like me) I went through 5 diff Scopes before finding a thin reticle 3-12 scope. It outshot my 6-24 $200 barska swat scope I returned. The tasco 6-24 was pretty good too.
