Zeroing iron sights at 25 yard possible?

I can only shoot to 25 yards at my local indoor shooting range. I need to zero in my iron sights on my M&P 15-22.

First of all, how do I go about adjusting my sights? I don't have a scope, so even at 25 yards, with the low light in the range, I can barely see my target. Do I take a few shots and then keep adjusting the sights until I get it close?

I'm consistently hitting low and left, about 4 inches from the target at 25 yards. Am I doing it right by turning the front sight to the Down direction and rear sight to the Left to adjust? Is there a formula for windage adjustment for .22?

    Please help this noob out.

Not an expert, but you are going the correct way. Front sight down brings point of aim up. move rear sight the direction you want the point of aim to move.

When adjusting the front sight you want to move it in the opposite direction that you want the bullet to move. So you would move the front sight down to move the point of impact of the bullet up. Rear sight you would move in the direction that you want the bullet to move. So move the rear sight to the right to move the point of impact to the right.

Best to fire at least 3 shots and then move the sights to the center of that group. Re-fire and repeat until your point of impact (POI) is the same as your point of aim (POA).

Just remember FORS. Front opposite, rear same in relation to where you want to move the bullet with the sights.
