    Adjusting a c. 1938 scope mount?

Hello all, I don't know if anyone here will know how to do this, but youre a creative bunch, so I'm hoping that someone has an idea.

    I have a c. 1938 Remmington 341P with a Weaver N3 mount and a weaver G6 scope:

You can kind of see how the mount works in that last picture. Basically, the rifle is a tack driver, absolutely amazing. However the scope is adjusted way, way, way off center for zero. After cleaning it one night I noticed that the mount looks like it has been twisted to some extent and the scope isnt in allignment with the barrel anymore. I unmounted the scope and placed a broom stick in the scope mount and this confirmed my suspicions when the end of the stick was below and off to the right of the barrel.

This is an amazing little rifle with all original parts so I don't want to mess it up trying to re square the mount. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Use a long broomstick to try and gently straighten it?

Tried that briefly, almost snapped the stick and it started warping at the wrong spots. Ya think heating it would help? I was just worried about harming the finish if I took a torch to it...
