.22 Conversion Kit for an AR15

I'm thinking about purchasing the .22 conversion kit for my Stag Arms AR15. I'll be able to afford more "range days" with cheaper ammo and therefore be able to practice more.

Do you guys know if my iron sights will need any adjustments from switching back and forth from .223/.556 to .22?

Has anyone done this and care to share their reasons and experiences?

I have the CMMG conversion on my S&W MP Sport. It depends on the distance you are shooting and how accurate you want to be. The trajectories of the 556 and .22 round are going to be different BUT I've found if I sight my AR in with the 556 round at 50 or 100 yards I can hit steel dead on with the .22 at targets up to about 50 yards. At a 100 yards I hold at 12'oclock and hit the target.

If you plan to get more serious and want to hit the X ring with both, then you will need to make adjustments when going back and forth...nature of the beast.

One thing I was actually doing for a while...I had a scope on the AR that was dialed in for the 556 round (still held pretty good for the 22) and was the Quick Detach PEPR mount. When I switched rounds, I would detach the scope and use my MBUS sights which were zeroed for the .22 round...best of both worlds.

Thanks for the info. I only have the standard iron sights and I don't think that I can adjust them between calibers, or at least I wouldn't know how, as I am new to the rifle/AR world.

When you remove your scope, do you have to "zero" it back in once you mount it again? If so, how difficult is it to do?
