Heli coil or a competent gunsmith or tap it with the next size or a metric thread

Which threads? Scope mount? Barrel retainer? Takedown? If it's the scope mount this may help. Hopefully your local gunsmith will have the tap needed to retap the holes. Then invest in an inch-pound torque wrench.

so i went the cheap route...i put some JB weld on it.

it seems to be steady.

Two still have some threads left so hopefully this plus the weld will hold it. It's just for plinking anyway.

You can: Buy oversized screws from Brownells, or drill and tap them to the next size, 8-40. Kit also available from Brownells.

Not the end of the world though. Going to an oversized thread, or helicoil(to make it the same size thread) is not to big of a deal. Assuming you do not go "thor" again, it can be fixed!

I don't plan on running it hard or doing appleseed or anything.

If/when it becomes an issue i'll fix it.

I think i prepped the surfaces pretty well, so hopefully it will last a while.
