    S&W M&P15-22 Trigger

I am shooting the Ruger Rimfire Challenge match on Saturday here in Idaho. For my rifle I am using my M&P15-22 since it is the only rimfire rifle I have. I was thinking about replacing the trigger before the match to get something a little lighter hoping to speed things up a bit. I know that my technique can also use improvement, but that isn't changing between now and Saturday.

Does the 15-22 take a standard AR trigger?

If so: I have at my disposal a Geiselle (sp) SSE, RRA 2 stage and stag standard single stage. Any ideas what would be the best trigger to put in for a steel challenge match? It would only be temporary and I would take it back out when done with the match.

Eventually I will build up a 10/22 but I am not about to go with a brand new rifle for a match in 2 days. I will be able to get to the range tomorrow to try out whatever trigger I decide to use to ensure it is reliable.

Try the gieselie. I have had trouble with my RRA 2 stage resetting.

The 15-22 does take standard AR-15 trigger groups. I think someone at the S&W forums put in one of those 'gold trigger'. Some changed the trigger springs to a lighter one although some had light primer hits or something(I haven't been on the site for many months). Stag should work, try the Geiselle

People will change the springs out with the JP yellows. It's hit or miss if they work or not. Then again, some people might be using Rem Golden Bullets so who knows? I'll probably pick up two sets. One for the 15-22 and one for my ALG Combat trigger. Worst case, I'll have lighter springs for my other ARs I'm building with standard mil-spec triggers (so far).

I thought my trigger was an SSE but it is an SSA. I think I will still try it and see how it feels. I'll had to the range this afternoon and run some ammo and to check the sighting on the rifle to make sure it is all as I expect.

I have both the RRA and Geissele and it's not even close. The RRA is a huge improvement over the factory GI trigger but the Geissele is a whole lot better.

I think the title is messed up. It says "Ruger M&P 15-22" where I think it should say "S&M M&P 15-22"

The trigger in the M&P15-22 is pretty rough, but managable. It is interchangable with standard AR lower trigger kits.

You are right. I was thinking Ruger rimfire challenge and I am shooting my M&P 15-22. It is now changed.

                  I put a 2-stage Armalite trigger (Item Number: 10309000) in my M&P 15/22.

                  easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Now the trigger pull is just like my M1A.

Well I got to the range and the SSA is very nice in there. I wish the pins were longer because the M&P lower is wider so the pins look like they are barely in there. I need to measure the wall thickness. It's quite possible it is that the walls are thicker so it appears that way. Ran 50 rounds through it to make sure the trigger functioned and it did fine.

I'll have to work on a cheaper option for a better trigger in this riffle. The SSA is already earmarked for a different build and I don't plan to put a $150 trigger in a $400 rifle permanently.

Went to the tournament today and no problems whatsoever. What a nice trigger. I was really impressed with how clean the break was. I need more of these triggers as I really don't want to take it out of my M&P now.

                        Use the original pins.
