    Ruger 10/22 Takedown vs Normal

    I just wanted to be absolute certain regarding the part differences between the Takedown model and a stock/base model Ruger 10/22.

    This is in regards to part compatibility so that myself and hopefully others may find useful. I just picked up a Takedown model as my first step into the rimfire world. Look forward to any helpful insight.

    Stock varies (although some modified stocks have been made to fit takedown)
    Receiver & takedown mechanism
    Barrel & takedown mechanism
    V block slightly different also it seems

    I think that's about it. I recently picked one up as well and so far have replaced the trigger, mag release and charging handle with 10/22 parts and they have worked fine.

      nice! hopefully someone else chimes in just to verify. would hate to pick something up and find it squares to a round hole.

      I opted to Kidd mine out a bit;
      'Trigger job' kit, Bolt buffer, Receiver pin kit, Cocking assembly, and Bolt hold open

      I also contacted Hogue about an Overmolded stock;

      "I am sorry but we do not have any plans at this time to make a stock for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown. Thank you for you inquiry" - Customer Service

      :[ may have to try to modify their standard stock

        All those Kidd parts should fit with no issues. I recently installed the Kidd "trigger job" kit on my 10/22 Take Down and it fits an functions great. The stock trigger pull was 5lbs 12oz and after the Kidd trigger job it dropped to a crisp 2lbs 8 oz. No bench groups yet but here is the 10/22 with the Kidd trigger job and a 3x-7x scope at 20yards. Good luck and have fun.

        Targets A and C are 20 shot groups with Fed 550 value pack and targets B and D are 20 shot groups with Fed AutoMatch.

          Interesting that the bulk Fed was both more accurate and more precise than the Fed Match ammo.

            It surprised me to. I'll be saving the remaining Fed 550 ammo for the 10/22 TD. I will also check my stash for the same lot numbers and will mark accordingly. As most shooters know, test as many brands of ammo as you can and buy the one that shoots best for that particular gun.
