CMMG 10 round evolution mags question

Are these things Cali legal? http://www.cmmginc.com/product_p/22afc74.htm

Aren't they modular and can be converted into higher cap mags?

My understanding, yes they are legal. yes you can remove the "cage" (aka skins) from them, purchase a high capacity magazine, and put the "cage" back around the new high capacity mags simply for looks.

However, it is not possible for the magazines, as they are configured, to accept more than 10 rounds.

At least this is what I was led to believe.

You can rivet a mag to so it will only load 10 rounds

I would post this in the legal section and let the legal eagles look at it... I would say they are legal because you need more parts to convert it (and the parts are not sold alone) but IANAL.

The mag in question can ONLY hold 10 rounds. I have one and there is no way to convert this to hold more that 10 rds. The cage around it is simply for looks and nothing more. These are Cali legal and there are no issues with having these.

Actually they are very difficult to get more than 8-9 rds in them but I have loaded a full 10.

No problem. I have their conversion in my MP Sport and love it. Just one thing to note is that it does take some time to break in, especially the mag. It was so difficult to load and was causing jams, etc...I was going to "polish" the feeding area on it a bit but after a few hundred rounds the rims on the ammo have done a nice job of it for me.
