Question for all you 10/22 gurus

I ran into a problem today the range that I have never encountered with any of my 10/22's (currently own three plus a SR-22). I had about a dozen out of 120 rounds FTE in my new tactical. I have replaced the stock, the charging handle, and added a RDS other than that it's stock. Could the new spring on the charging handle be to weak, or to strong? This was my first trip to the range with it. FYI - since I know it will come up, I was shooting Federal 550's, Remington Golden, Winchester Xvert, CCI Blazers, and CCI mini mags......same result with all of them

    Have you replaced the extractor?

Volquartzen makes this for the 10/22.

10/22's have two extractors. One is built into the magazine. I would try another magazine first before you replace anything.

              Perhaps your thinking of ejectors?
OP: If the aftermarked charging handle is heavier or lighter than the stock one, it may be giving you issues. Try putting the stock one back in at give it a try to narrow down possible issues. Also, as mentioned, the stock extractor on the bolt is a weak point. Also, ensure your chamber is not gummed up.

Gosh, the first question I had was when was the last time he did a field strip and completely cleaned under the bolt and all the parts. I guess by assumption he has done this, then I would ask if he has modified any of the springs or the recoil buffer. That said, the extractor is the first thing I would change after trying the magazines and getting the same sort of results. I would stick with one known good ammo for the testing instead of using multiples. Remington Goldens are known to be a dirtier load to shoot.

Disassemble, clean/lube. Be sure its reassembled correctly, checking for binding/tightness.. Definitely reinstall the stock CH/spring and be sure it cycles easily and smoothly all the way back to the bolt stop.

A VQ extractor is a great, inexpensive investment. As is a KIDD guide rod and set of 3x springs. What a bargain!

Is it failure to eject meaning the spent shell is still in the chamber or is it a stove pipe meaning it ejected but not completely out of the bolt area?

                      If your rifle is new...

A complete detail strip, thorough cleaning.
followed with a good lube "" SLIP 2000 EWL or BF"" should be your fix

                      Followed firing about a brick.
