Help me decide what to get!

Alright. I'm undecided what my next move is on the M&P 15-22. I want to get an optic for it, but I don't know what to get: a red dot or a scope. I want a red dot because I want it to be like it's big brother so I can practice on the cheap with it (though, I do a pretty decent job with the red dot on there already). However, I want a scope so I can hit the smaller rimfire targets as I dislike missing the target, lol. I guess the flip-side to that is being able to hit the smaller targets with a red dot will transfer over to the centerfire rifle without "wasting" the centerfire ammo. My XT-22, Marlin 795, Marlin 60 and Ruger 10/22 all have scopes on them.

I'm thinking maybe take the scope off of the Marlin 60 (which I wanted to get tech sights for anyways) and put it on the M&P? IIRC, I have my Simmons .22Mag 3-9x on there. Just get something like the the Bushnell TRS red dot? Just use the irons and get something else?

Red dot and a magnifier! (Get 5x or above, 3x is a little pointless IMHO)

It's looking like a red dot, though, I'm not sure about a magnifier.
