    Paco Tools 22LR Bullets

This company makes a lot of different bullet tools for 22LR. If you go down the page a bit you can see one tool that cuts off the tips of bullets. FYI....thought it was interesting and to pass on the info.

I have a similiar tool made by a fellow named DRock. Difference is its made from stainless steel. I have two forming rods, one that makes wadcutters, they make nice round holes in targets and one that makes an EPS type bullet similiar to the Eley target ammo. Fun to play with. Their best use is for making hunting ammo like really deep and wide hollowpoint. The advantage of either of these bullet modification tools is that they size all the bullets to the same diameter. Mine sizes them to .240, helps with consistency.

Interesting. In the condor zone, the only .22lr lead free option is the Winchester roundnose tin bullet. I wonder if it would perform better with a hollowpoint.

Pretty consistent when .240" would not chamber. I think you would not get this in a .222" groove diam barrel. It resizes to .224" I think.
These devices are of little effect. A couple of years ago the company Eley did a extensive study on the effects of nose distortion on accuracy. They found almost no effect even when the nose was crimped with a pair of pliers. They found that heel distortion had a large effect. Every heel on their ammo is inspected. Bullet diameter effect would depend on the barrel. Might work for you but does not say much for the barrel if it produces a group size reduction.
As far a making a more lethal hunting round. How dead is dead a 22lr is not intended for shooting the wounded charging rabbit. Although I hear the blue squirrel is a mean critter when nicked.

Whoops! You are correct. I should have said .224.
