    CZ 452 is a keeper

Ran some basic ammo through a new barrel with a stiff 8lb trigger and shot this group standing up with iron sights. Not bad! If I had two bags, a scope, match ammo, a 2lb trigger and a broken in barrel I'm sure I could shoot better. The CZ's are the sleeper shooters of the bolt action world.

I bought a 452 ultralux about ten years ago, best $191.00 gun I have.
First time I took it out, I tried the ladder rear sight at 250 yrds just for giggles; went 3 for 3 on bowling pins at 250 yds.

Not really. Most of us know their capabilities and suggest them often. They are just not the cheapest and lots of beginners do not want to invest the kind of money we would spend on a good gun like a CZ and the nice optics to go along with it. Lots of people want lots of guns that are just OK rather than a few that are great.

Replacing the trigger return spring takes about 5 minutes and gets a much better trigger pull. More can be done to improve the trigger, but I just lack the initiative to tap out that pressed in pin.

I got a YOdave kit sitting here ready to install. I might do it tomorrow if I get around to it.

Love the 452! Did a 'poor man's trigger job' and had to sand out the barrel channel a bit to free-float the barrel... Now it shoots like a dream!

I just picked up a 455 in 22 lr, already have the 452 Varmint in 17 HMW and a 452 FS in 22 WMR. The wood on the 455 is much nicer than the 452s, seems CZ has learned we like rifles with dark stocks. The barrel change on the 455 is easy. I've never come across a CZ - 452, 453, 455 or any of their centerfire bolts that don't shoot great.

Thank you for sharing. I have the 452 Scout ordered for my ten year old son for Christmas. I haven't seen one in person yet; I ordered based on all the good things I've read about it. It's good to read another good review.

The new cz455' no longer have the tangent sights that made me fall in love with the 452 "super exclusive"

I bought a 452 Trainer sight unseen and I don't regret it at all.

Try it with Gold Medal Match and watch that hole shrink down to a single ragged one. I love my CZ 452.

Wolf Match Target and SK Std + (same ammo) shoots the best of the low priced match ammo in my UL. I get it from J&G sales in Prescott, AZ. Good prices if you buy at least 1500 rounds.
