Got several .22's but my 22/45 is still the one that sees the most use. It just plain fires everything it's being fed and is dead-nuts reliable as long as I clean it between range sessions.

      Other .22's in the house:
Taurus 94 - fun, accurate and something my son enjoys as a companion gun to the Henry .22 lever action

Walther P22 - also fun and reliable. Obviously some people have problems with theirs, however this one runs smooth and does not give me any headaches. The small grip puts this one a notch down on my favorites list. Also - most times at the range my son snatches this one from the range box before I get the chance

Those Tacticool 22s can be very picky about ammo, but Thunderbolts and Lightnings are crap bullets even though they are supposedly "high velocity." Lightnings made my brand new 22/45 gag! I did had best luck with the new and improve Golden Bullets. The bulk Wally's Federal Auto Match had some FTE issues.

I had a safety malfunction on the 22/45 while shooting the Auto Match and had to send the gun to Prescott. Say hello for me if you happen to see it.

Went to the range yesterday to try out my new SR9c so I took the SR22 with me as well, so I didn't waste an entire trip to the range shooting just 50 rounds of 9mm. Took 200 rounds with me. Fired 50 rounds of CCI Blazer and 50 rounds of Remington Thunderbolt without a problem. The other 100 were Federal Lightning and they gave me a few issues. One got hung up on the feed ramp and caused a minor stoppage. Dropped the mag, cleared it, bullet was chewed up badly. The other problem was two FTE. Had to hold the extractor down with my finger, but managed to pull the spent casings out. Acceptable performance for cheap ammo and a tacticool plinking pistol. Between the SR22 and SR9c I am starting to become a bit of a Ruger fan.

Many people on this board regard guns designed by lawyers as anathema. All that added complication. Replacing common sense with gizmos. Maybe I get the point of the magazine safety, but the chamber indicator on the 22/45 is just not very visible.

The SR22 is just a much better made gun. Aluminum and not pot-metal. The P22 is actually made in the Umarex factor.

It looks like you want a "tactical" type pistol according to your list, but I really have to say that if you want rock-solid reliability, you need to look at a Ruger Mk.II or Mk.III. Not as sexy looking as the others, but you won't be cutting range sessions short because of repeated malfunctions.

                    This won't work for everybody$$$.

But I got one of the new Volquartsen alloy frames for my MKII uppers. It's on my big ten inch right now. 4 ounce lower, the barrel just hangs there. Click, bang. Repeat as necessary.

Beyond cool, extra slick, has everything where it should be and no lawyer BS. Gobbles up the CMP Remington surplus like Pez. Good times.

The SR22 is a great little plinker and alot of fun. Thats one thing you do not have to worry about Ruger. If theres a problem it will be taken care of.

                        22 revolvers are also wonderful.
