Try the "New & Improved" Remington golden bullets and see what you think. I have liked them in several of my .22's. Don't get me wrong, I like Federal too, but have found the remingtons to be very good, at least with this N&I version.

I usually get mine in Antelope or Roseville. Just leave me some. I need a new box, or maybe I should buy 2.

What is "new & Improved" on the golden bullets? I have had lots of failure to feed and fire in my Umarex Colt ar15 22LR and my gsg 1911 22LR. And with the Federal bulk no problems at all.

+1 i will never buy golden bullets again, many many fail to feed AND fire as many as 1 in 20 had some sort of problem, i even had 2 in one box that the case was bent like 15*

federal has worked great for me for plinking, only maybe 2 FTF in a brick. accurate to 50 yards, beyond that the groups widen up quite a bit

Federal bulk is a high velocity ammo. Depends on your barrel length the velocity of the bullet is going supersonic but at around 50 yards the bullet drops to the speed of sound and it would become unstable. Use standard velocity ammo and the bullet never enters supersonic and you won't have that problem.

Big 5 carry the Federal Champion in bulk pack and it works great. I also have had a lot of miss fires with the Remington

Yeah but they charge $27. In fact all of Big 5's ammo is high.

I'll tell you the wally world on Folsom blvd and Zinfandel in Rancho Cordova doesn't have any. Checked yesterday. The guy said they were stocked yesterday but somebody came in and bought a bunch.

Also, the one in Orangevale by Greenback and Hazel doesn't have any. I grabbed the last box yesterday.

Saw that deal for Cabelas on slickguns... I may jump on that since I'm having a hard time finding any of the fed packs for .22lr. I don't think any tax on that and 4200rnds will get you to free shipping.

                    Edit: ^^ What QuinC said

                    Another Edit:

$169.98 for 4200 rds of .22lr federal champion bulk + 2 ammo cans shipped to Cali through Cabela's deal

Walmarts down here in SoCal area have plenty in stock. I went there for some CCI minimags and bought a box for the hell of it. Gonna try to feed it thru my Ruger SR22. I've been feeding it purely CCI Minimags. Anyone know if the Ruger SR22 will eat the Federals?

Yes it will. Gotta try the CCI Stingers in your SR22. Very nice kick!

Have you checked Ammo Depot on Folsom near Hazel. Just picked up a few boxes there.

Remington had an issue with the priming stage of the .22 manufacturing. I do not have the exact report anymore but there was definite inconsistancy in the application of the priming compound. Here is an example:

If you look carefully you can see the compound in a "C" shape with a gap right where the firing pin struck (obviously a "dud").

A friend of mine that instructs youngsters to shoot .22 rifles was having a heck of a time with Remington and the FTF's he was experiencing. He contacted Remington, they discovered the problem (old worn out machinery I believe), overhauled the priming stage and solved the problem.
