22/45 fun (was Sam Lam bushing....)

Sigh... went to install this on my Mrk III 22/45 and the safetly lever fell out... so I go grab it and the f--king trigger spring and the trigger spring plunger goes rolling on the garage floor..

............I have yet to find the stupid plunger... (yes I did the magnet and flashlight trick.... )

As a result I have a semi complete Sam Lam modified Mark III 22/45...... I just ordered the plunger from Ruger...

    Oh well...

(If anyone in the bay area has one let me know... otherwise I got two of these plungers coming to me in the mail)..... frack**g ruger semi autos... not the easiest things to work on.

    My rant off.

BTW - I am not knocking down Sam's work... it's great... it's the freaking ruger design that I'm not in love with!

Maybe you should change the title to "Ruger 22/45: too many little damn parts"

Did you do the slingshot mod while you had it apart?

And that's why I'm going to pay a gunsmith $50 to install it as well as the VQ parts.

It just ain't worth the headache IMO

Not yet but that's pretty easy. Got confusticated (confused+frustrated) during the install so I wasn't thinking about that...

after the debacle with the rear sight disabling the striker on the lc9 i have given up on ruger. before that I tried a p345 and it was a cruel joke as well. Ridiculously long distance between front of grip and front of trigger and it fired with the safety on.

I don't find the pistol all that difficult to work on.

Plenty of diagrams and videos out there

Everytime i looked into buying the vq parts to mod my 22/45 i watch the videos, and tell my self, iam gonna muck things up.

Anyone got a good video on how to do the mod?

It's not that bad... just the whole parts flying out and loosing it sucked. The gun is now back together 100% and works great! (well, with snapcaps) Slingshot mod done too. Gonna take her to the range tonight.
