    High End Rim Fire Scopes?

    Howdy folks.

    While well versed in high end optics for my centerfire rifles, I have no knowledge of rimfire scopes.

    I originally bought a Vortex Viper 2-7x but it's too long and I'd have to take it apart to set the parallax.

    Any suggestions for high end/money is no object rimfire scopes? (How expensive could it get right? It's rimfire.)

    My criteria...

    -Shorter type scope for my 10/22 takedown so I can fit it in the bag with the scope on.
    -Must have parallax set closer or have adjustable rimfire parallax... I don't want to set parallax myself through twisting front element.
    -Stainless would be nice if possible to match my 10/22 takedown... but isn't necessary.

    Thanks folks!

    I have a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 3-9x40 on my Marlin 795 and have nothing but good things to say about it.

      I've had a couple of Nikon Prostaff rimfires in the adjustable and fixed 4x. I really liked those scopes, particularly the 4x (Which was on a CZ 452).

        I like the Nikon Prostaff in 4x... i really wish they came in stainless. haha

        Good clarity?

        I wonder if it's short enough to let me put the 10/22 takedown in its original case.

          What ranges are you shooting at and what types of shooting do you plan to do?

          Long range from a stationary posistion? Thats what some of mine are set up for. My normal ranges for that are 75-175 yards.

          Heres what I use a Hakko (OEM for Nikon tactical) Great Scope!

          Shorter ranges and more active shooting ie movement? A good red dot like the Bushnell Holosight. I have it mounted on a Ruger Mannlicher with a see through mount for iron sights...

          So what type of shooting do you want to do?
          TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
          The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
          Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
          Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
          The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
          The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
          The best lack all conviction, while the worst
          Are full of passionate intensity.

            The scope is going on a Ruger 10/22 Takedown. Will be used at all ranges.

            Looking for something small enough to leave on the rifle when i break it in half.

              These http://www.weaveroptics.com/optics/r...assic_rimfire/

              Japan made, light, small and nice optics, rimfire parallax and comes in silver. I have the matte black one on my 10/22 but not take down model.

                Wouldn't happen to have a photo of it mounted on your 10/22 would ya?

                Made in Japan makes me happy... have you compared it to the Nikon?

                  I'll get you a photo when I get the rifle out.

                  Its more compact and more lightweight I would say (2.5-7x28) compared to most others at 3-9x40mm. Gathers more than enough light and very clear. I also have a Vortex Diamondback 2-7x35mm rimfire model which is a tad larger on a bolt rimfire.

                  Oh, the Nikons are nice but funny aren't made in Japan - Phillipines. I think the Weaver's
                  are a little better in quality since they don't need to have the big "Nikon" name.

                    You know I am a scope guy as well, I started using a Microdot RDS on my 10/22 after doing the scope thing. I dont think I would change a thing now.

                    Its small, compact, and fast and easy to shoot with. I think its a great match for the 10/22 considering I can still pull off a decent looking group with it. I really didnt like the added bulk of the scope as well.

                      ejhc11... that is ironic that the Nikons are made in the Phillipines, guess i should look into that Weaver.

                      ExtremeX... I hear you on the red dot, but already have a 22lr with a red on it, wanting something with magnification.

                          I second that.

                          Or this one, not high end but good enough for a 10/22.

                            The two that I think would fit your case best are a Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 or FX-1 4x28. The budget option is a Weaver RV-4 4x28 Rimfire which is nearly as good as the shorter FX-1. Weaver also makes a 2.5-7x28 but at 11.5" I'm told it's too long for the 10/22TD. There is also the $305 Pride-Fowler/Rapid Reticle 3-9x32 but it may also be too long. If it were me I'd buy the Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 Rimfire.

                            VX-1 2-7x28 Rimfire ~ $220
