    10/22 into a 36" rifle case?

So I'm planning to pick up a Condor double rifle soft case to use with my 10/22, AR with collapsible stock, and a Beretta CX-4 sometime in the future. The AR and CX-4 will both fit without a problem (32" & 30", respectively), but the 10/22 is 36 to 37 inches long, depending on how I measure it.

Do I need a 42" case instead? Like this? http://www.lapolicegear.com/condor-4...ifle-case.html

Or can I do a 36" case? Does anyone have experience with this case?

    Thanks.

I was told that there wasn't going to be any math.

While math is included, it is not the primary function of the question. It is a combination of theory and applied physics.

If you're wondering, I used to teach stats.

Math gives me a headache---just get a separate case for the 10-22...

Lets see, rifle is 32 or 33 inches long, case is 36" long. My head hurts now, I'll get back to you.

Seriously, why wouldn't it fit? The rifle is 3" shorter than the case. Don't see a problem.

            Doh!

            Brainfart. I meant 36/37" long, not 32.

Dependent on which model you plan on getting, I don't think it will fit in that Condor case very well. I have that condor case that you speak of and a 10/22 target tactical (34.5" OAL) and it fits in the case just fine but I have to put it in at a slight angle. It's been a while since I had the Hogue over-molded stock on there but if I recall, this stock has the same OAL as the Hogue. I recently went to the range so I still have my 10/22 inside my Condor case. This specific case is the single rifle case but I have the dual case as well (it's just a little thicker and has that divider in the center).

With that said, maybe if your stock is a little bit smaller, you can angle it more but if your OAL is 37" you might be pushing it. Hope this helps.

Thanks! It does. I have the base Carbine model, which is listed at 37", but it depends a bit on which point I'm measuring from, I get 36 to 37 inches (i.e., straight line from tip of barrel to end of buttplate is 36", but tip of barrel to bottom edge of buttplate is 37".

Looks like i'll be going with a 42"... thanks again Dionyn.

IF you plan to swap out the barrel from an 18.5" carbine to a 16.5" aftermarket barrel Id get the 36" case. I have a 36" Voodoo Tactical case similar to the Condor and everything but my 300 Win Mag fits in it. I like short rifles though!

42" softcase can be harder to handle. 6" is not a lot but on top of the 36" it can be a lot. Since your other rifles fit in the 36" stick with it. I've put rifles just over 36" in my 36" and with the built in flex it still closed. On a few occasions I've also transported with an inch of barrel sticking out one end, between the zippers , with no problems. Basically, if 36" works 80% of time than stick with it. You could also just buy a cheap $15 soft case to supplement your 36" when you do want something longer.

2nab, thanks for making life more complicated for me! You do have a point, especially since it's mainly a range bag, not something I'll be bushwacking through Africa with, so I might do a 36" now. grrr....

Update: about 2 weeks ago I picked up a used 36" Voodoo double soft rifle case. The standard 10/22 (just) fits! Thanks for all the input from everyone.
