    savage 6d L

    in need of some help just got handed down this great little gun to add to my collection but have 2 problems i need a firing pin for it and havent been able to find one anywhere.
    and to top that i cant figure out how to get the action apart
    if anyone has any words of wisdom that would be a great help

      It might be a Model 6DL, instead of a 6d L. Try Numrich for parts.

      ~ Take the stock off.
      ~ Unscrew the back of the receiver.
      ~ Pull the bolt assembly rearward till the op handle can be removed, and do so.
      ~ The bolt assembly should come out the rear of the receiver, you might need to manipulate the trigger though.

      Factory part number on the FP is 87E-77.

              well it is a 6DL but now i cant find a firing pin anywhere. anyone have any idea on where to fine a firing pin for a 60 year old 22 ? :]

                  Potentially you could have a machinist or gunsmith make a firing pin for you. If you do not already have a firing pin as a model, an option is to ask and pay a Savage owner at a collector's forum to help have one made for you. Try the gunboards.com; it is full of collectors of every kind of firearm you can imagine. Good luck.
