"Build Your Own" .22LR Rifle Kit

Getting in the way back machine again... Many moons ago, I remember a friend that got his first .22LR rifle, as a kit. It came with all the needed parts and an unfinished wooden stock. IIRC, it was a single-shot, bolt-action. Absolutely no frills. No machining of any sort was required, unless the person wanted to sand, stain, carve or shorten the stock.

I've been unsuccessful in finding such a thing on the interwebz. If anyone has any thoughts on which company made it and such, please let me know.

I have seen some black powder rifle/pistol kits but not any rimfire kits. If you find one please post the info. Sounds like a great project, I would certainly buy one.

Company's gone. Marathon Products, Inc. Which had stuff "OEM'ed" by Santa Barbara Arms, which is also defunct.
