I was in the LGS yesterday and saw a tiny bolt 22LR on the rack. A close inspection revealed the Savage Rascal with black stock and an Accutrigger for $160 http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/rascal/

Couldn't resist despite my oldest only being 4 so it will be a while before my excuse for buying it becomes valid.
Put lots of rounds through it when I got home and I am *very* impressed. Was quite prepared to be disappointed that I had bought cheap junk - not at all. Very accurate and a sweeeet trigger. The bolt cycles really easily and there is no hard pull needed to cock the rifle so it will be easy for young fingers to work it. Sure the synthetic stock screams cheap but that is the case with all savage stocks I have come across but it is ok for the price and the free floated barrel performs well with a smooth action - all I need!
It's fun to shoot for full sized people too :-)
