Well my Ruger 10/22 circa 1986 is finally having some failure to eject problems. It has the stock ruger extractor and I dont know if I should just go with the stock one again or one from another company. Anyone have any opinions /advise? I noticed the VQ one has great reviews on midway, but is there a difference or am I paying for name only? Thanks for any input!

Opinions on 10/22 extractors?

I usually replace mine with Volquartsen or Power Custom extractors once they start wearing. I suspect but can't prove that they and Power Custom hold tighter tolerances and use better materials because they don't have to cut corners to meet a cost limitation. You see that in many of the parts that Ruger uses like painted instead of anodized receivers. Ruger has to keep the manufacturing cost of the 10/22 to a minimum. Thanks for the quick replies. Did you guys get the bolt tune up kit or just the extractor?Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

Replaced mine with a PC extractor, never been happier. I now do NOT have to clean brass when shooting this rifle. Extracts all spent brass towards 1 or 2 o'clock.sigpic"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."
