What's a good .22 pistol?

Been interested in shooting some 22. I want to shoot .22 to save some money and still shoot. So what's a good pistol in this caliber? How are the Sig Mosquitos? M&P 22? Ruger SR22? Any revolvers that are good? Any others?

All those you listed are solid guns.

More traditional, you can look at Ruger MkIII's, Ruger 22/45's and Browning Buckmarks are always nice. You cannot go wrong with any of these choices.

I have a Sig Mosquito and absolutely love it. I hear alot of **** about them but my personal experience has been nothing but good. I've shot CCI stinger and bulk blazer both thru it without a hitch. probably around 600 rnds. Down side is the magazines are WAY over priced at around 50 bux each

Personal opinion is to stay away from the Sig and buy ruger or Smith all the way. Had an SR22 and loved the feel and the way it shot for its purpose, although not overly accurate at longer distances. Ruger Mark III is a better choice for longer range plinking, albeit at a slightly higher cost. Support America.

I suggest you go to a local shooting range if you have one and rent a few of the popular pistols. I own 8 or 9 different 22 pistols and I enjoy the Ruger Mk I/II and the S&W's the most.

I will start by saying avoid the Sig mosquito. I own one and even after several thousand rounds and shooting CCI mini mags it is still unreliable.

If you want a fun, pistol that looks like a typical duty gun, the Ruger SR-22p is awesome. I own one and its dead nuts reliable with pretty much any ammo i run through it, cheap bulk walmart ammo included. The M&P22 is by all acounts a great gun and reliable as well, but i do not own one.

The Ruger MK series and Browning buckmark are time tested and great guns.

I can't say enough good things about my Ruger MKIII Target in stainless, the only time it sucks is when it is time to clean it.

I recently picked up a 22/45 with the 5.5" barrel. Sweet little pistol. Very accurate with lead round nose CCI target ammo, which is all I have shot. Has very good sights which give a sharp sight picture and are fully adjustable.

I am not a very good pistol shooter, but even I was posting decent groups with it at 15 yards. For the price, I think it is a very good value.

Only upgrade I plan on making is the Volsquarten 'accuracy kit'. Trigger isn't terrible, but it isn't great.

I have the Ruger Mk1, and 2 of the Mk2s.Like them alot.I would like to get a Mk3 as well.
I had a Ruger 22/45,and just did not care for the feel.It had no problems.
If you like a single action revolver,you can not beat a Ruger.I have owned them in 22LR/22 mag,and 17HMR.
I also like my S&W 22As as well.
My favorite is my S&W revolvers in 22LR,22Mag,17HMR,but they are kind of spendy.I got them after selling my S&W 41s,which are some of the finest autos a person could own.
I have owned 2 of the Sig Mosquitos thinking I just got a bad one the first time.The second was no better.
My friends that have bought the Walthers said they ate everything and they were not accurate.That may have been the shooters.
Other friends with Browning Buckmarks love them.
I would like to try some of the conversions.I hope someone chimes in here about the Glock 22lr conversion.
