    ISSC M22 review

Bought an ISSC M22 from Turner's for $299 and sprung her from jail yesterday. I wanted to get a 22lr pistol because shooting my AR15 with a 22lr upper is so much fun, I wanted to get as much trigger time with a pistol without breaking the bank on ammo. I was going to get a Ruger 22/45 but this Glock clone was sitting next to it. It felt really nice and field stripping is much easier than the Ruger so I took the chance on the M22.

Here's a stock photo but it's exactly like the one I bought. ISSC had to make changes to the original aesthetics because it looked too much like a Glock. Glock sued ISCC, so they made the trigger guard rounded and changed the texture of the grip and slide.

I cleaned the packing lube from the pistol (there was a ton of it) and used froglube. The magazine is a 10 rounder that has tabs on the follower to make loading easy. Turner's has spare mags for $30.

Off to the range and I set up the target to get the adjustable targets dialed in. The windage is adjustable with the rear sights via a small screwdriver that comes with the gun. Elevation is supposed to be adjustable by replacing the front sight completely with different height front sights. But my pistol did not come with the different sized sights so I'm stuck with the one I got. Luckily elevation was spot on. I only had to do a little bit of windage adjustment and I was good to go. The ISSC copied the Glock sight picture but I'm not impressed because the front sight is not that bright.

How does M22 shoot? Pretty darn good. It's a hammer fired, single action only trigger but the creep is long. The pull is pretty light and recoil is non-existent. There is a hanging plate at 50 yards at my pistol range (Rainbow) and I was making it ping at least 6 out of 10 times easily. With my 9mm, I'm lucky if I can get 1 out of 10. With the light recoil, reaquiring the target is easy. A couple of marines next to me complimented me on my shooting and thought I was shooting a 9mm because the M22 sounds pretty loud. Then to the 25 yard rimfire range where they have steel animal targets set up. The accuracy of the M22 is really good and I was knocking over the animals like Hickok45! This precisely why I wanted to get a 22lr pistol!

How reliable is the M22? I used Blazer in the 525 round box and out of the 200ish rounds I shot, I only got about 6 FTE. My LGS has this Blazer ammo for $16 so I'm happy that my pistol likes it.

If you are looking for a 22lr pistol and don't need the match grade accuracy of a Ruger Mark series or a Buckmark and if you want something that looks like a larger caliber service pistol I highly recommend the ISSC M22.

Great review OP. I was at turners today and looked at it. Didn't handle it as it was pretty crowded today. Only problem for me is I really like my sons Sr22 which ate any ammo we have thrown at it. Also just picked up the gsg 522pk and haven't even shot that one yet. Glad you like yours. Very tempted to pick one up.

Did you teardown the M22 completely and apply Froglube?
I am still trying to find a full detail strip of the M22 on the internet.
There's alot of Glock videos and tutorials though.
I would be afraid of tearing it down completely without a detailed tutorial or manual.

Just a field strip to remove most of the factory lube. Removed the slide and spring. Wipe down with a rag soaked in rubbing alcohol. Froglube paste + heat gun. Let everything cool down and reassemble.

Since .22lr ammo is very dirty, I'll wipe off excess lube from the feed ramp area. It gets gunked up when wet.
