    Marlin XT-22

I brought the Marlin XT-22 last month and had a chance to shoot it over the weekend. All I have to say is WOW! This rifle is accurate. It was between the Marlin and the Savage bolt action .22lr rifle, both around the same price. I went with Marlin because of all the rave review about the Micro Groove Barrel. After I sighted the scope at 50 yards, I was able to shoot a group of 7 rounds into a size slightly bigger than a dime. I was stoked. Unfortunately, that was the best group of the day. My adrenaline was running and was pulling shots, but I was constantly putting shots either touching or through the same hole. This is addicting. Also, there is something special about manually operating the bolt action.

The new adjustable trigger is really nice. I drop the trigger down to 3.5lb; it breaks really clean. The barrel is thick for a .22lr. The finish on the stock is good overall; the bottom of the stock feels rough. The barrel isn't free float, but if I can consistently put up good group, then I might just leave it alone. I cannot wait to take it out to the range again. Highly recommend the Marlin XT-22.

Congrats on the rifle! I just got back from taking my XT-22 out today. Had the same kind of grouping (pretty good IMO since there was a little breeze). Also looks like the same scope that will be going on mine when the bases get here.

Hows the fit and finish on these new XT's, compared to the older North Haven Marlin's? I've read a lot of complaints about these new Marlins, since Remington took over.

How did you like that trigger safety?

I got the weaver base 12 on it to mount the rings. I like the Leaper scope, it has adjustable objective, so it is clear from all distance. For rimfire, it is perfect.

I don't have any experience with the old factory made Marlin, but mine seems to be well made. Other than the rough area on the bottom of the stock, the overall finish is uniform. The trigger safety doesn't bother me, I barely notice it at the range.
