Shot a box o CCI's Quiet-22s from my CZ 455 today and Keltec SU-22.
Much better backyard ammo than the Aguila Super Colibris (which I do like)
At 710 fps and 40 grain, it behaves much more like a standard 22 rimfire than the colibri does. I was seeing 1/2 to 1 inch drop at about 40 Yds. I get about 4 inch drop on the Colibris.
Was getting 76 Db at the muzzle, 86 Db at 10 ft X 10 ft out of both barrels with a high of 92 Db.
I was shooting at a 2" spinner so don't have groups, but was so consistant it was almost boring.
My R9 springer air rifle with 22cal barrel and ported compensator rings in around 80 Db, and throws a 14.3 Grain pellet 745 fps.
It has about the same drop at that distance, but a 16 inch drop at 65 Yds.
Unlike the short bullets of the Colibris, the Quiet-22s feed nicely from magazine to chamber. I get all kinds of wonky feeds from the Colibris. I basically have to single load them, but that gives me a chance to make sure the bullet left the barrel as well.
There are some issues. The Quiet-22s didn't really fit at all in the Keltec chamber. When they did fit, the round did a half cycle, ejecting the cartridge, then required charging to fully reset and draw a round to the chamber. The rounds fit very tight in the CZ as well, but seated without undo pressure on the bolt. I did not mic them to compare with CCI mini mags which I've used regularly in both guns with no issues. If I get a chance to, I will do so and report here.
I've yet to check the Quiet-22s out in my pistols.
The Colibris and Super colibris are pretty loud out of the 3.25 inch SR22 but sounded great out of my Kimber 1911 and are virtually silent out of the CZ. Also, if I get the time and motivation, I'll do some sound and drop observations from the rifles and pistols with Colibris, Super Colibris and CCI Quiets for a full comparison.
