Trust 'ol doc On This One - S&W M41

I'm new to this ".22LR target gun" thing, but let me tell you...this Smith Model 41 is more accurate and has the best trigger of any pistol I've ever shot.

Got it last Sat., and within a few minutes of getting familiar with it, I was making little steel piggies scream, "PIIIING" and fall right over at 50 yards.

And, I'm not that good of a shot, period.

You can pick them up used for about $650-$950.

If you happen to run across one locally in that price range, just go ahead and snag it! They ain't gonna get any cheaper as time marches on.

I have to agree , since i picked up a model 41 my Rugers have sat in the safe . they come in two barrel lengths and you can easily pick up the barrel length you dont have on line . the barrel changes in a couple of minutes and i have thought about a second one and just leave a red dot mounted on it .

Love mine,does need a little care.Doesn't like to be dirty.Wolf match target is incredible in mine.First box was so good,I thought about stopping because the target looked so good.

Shoot it the most of my .22 pistols.When I want to shoot a lot of rounds without worrying about cleaning,the Ruger MKII and MKIII come out.

Here's my late 70's vintage S&W 41 with a 7" barrel. I also picked up a 5" barrel to go along with it. Switching the barrels can be done in thirty seconds. The 41's have one of the best stock triggers in the market. My other 22lr handguns are lucky that I believe in the saying that "variety is the spice of life". Otherwise, they would never come out of the safe.

Doc, your preaching to the choir. I didn't know what i was missing until I had a chance to shoot my S&W 41. The cost of admission is relatively high but it was worth every penny to me.

Regarding cost, a nice, used M41 can be purchased for about the same or less than many, run-of-the-mill 1911's, and we know how many of them are getting bought all the time.

For the 41 Check out the Clark Barrels, I have one and it's great for mounting optics.

I agree. The Clark barrels are very accurate, and having a red dot or scope on the pistol enhances accuracy.

Except for 1911s in the same price range you might have to spend $300-500 more on it to get the kind of trigger you get on a S&W41.

P.s. I hate you all, I am trudging along with my Ruger 22/45.
