I'm Left eye dominant and right hand dominant. I've been shooting for over 40years, stated shooting .22 in Boy Scouts and have always shot from my left side, still do today with rifles and pistols.
Back in the day we used the old bolt action .22 and they only had righty bolts, but that didn't hinder my ability to outshoot most in my troop.
Today I have an older Marlin 60 tube fed 17+1 I've shot thousands of rounds and never had a major blow back issue. But I always have used good .22 ammo since the semi ejects across my face. I also have a Winchester Model 75 Bolt action, right handed and love that rifle.
A lefty shooting a righty bolt action is actually quicker to cycle the action and stay on target since you dont have to take your eye off the target nor finger off the trigger if needed.
    Just my older .02ct

Thanks for all of the input guys!!

The other night we were watching American Guns and they had a kid come on shooting a lever action rifle and that peaked my sons interest in that style of shooting... so he was quite torn on which style of gun he really wanted. I ended up taking him to a store yesterday and he was able to handle multiple lever actions and bolt actions and decided he wanted a lever action. Then, out of curiosity, I had him try a compact 10/22 and he immediately fell in love with it... said it fits him like a glove.

So in the end, it turned out to be the one gun that he wasn't really interested in (semi auto) that he really wants. I told him all about the 10/22 and how that gun will be able to grow with him and he liked it even more.

Thanks again for all of the tips and advise!
