    22 Ramset in a 22 LR pistol.

Has anybody tried shooting the Ramset cartridges out of their gun? These are they sell at Home Depot that are used for construction. I think it would be cool to used them for the 4th of July.

Look closely at those cartridges. They are necked down and will, at the very least cause carbon deposits in the chamber of the gun, at worst it will damage the chamber. Short answer is, "I wouldn't". Firearms are not designed to shoot that cartridge. Best to check the barrel of the gun, it is stamped with the type of ammo that can be used.

They are actually Winchester cartridges. They have Super X stamped on them, which is why I assume they will work

seems like it would be a cool way to get the cops to show up...

I acutally didn't say they wouldn't work. Just look closely at the brass, it is necked down and therefore the end of the cartridge will not fill the chamber and when fired it will blast powder into the chamber before the barrel and carbon deposits in the chamber will be the result. Not my place to tell you what to do, just trying to inform you of the results.

They do work but what's the point or are you just trying to find new an exciting ways to go to prison

I have. Probably 50 rounds or so. In my younger (read: dumber) days, At my cabin in Mendocino, I had a box of the green charges and my Dad's Single-Six. Four of my buddies and I were playing poker at the picnic table. Whenever there was a showdown, after the hands were shown, the loser would pick up the pistol, yell "You Cheatin' Bastard!" and fire a shot into the air. We thought it was funny as all get out. Hilarious laughter all around. We did this well into the night. The next day we put a couple hundred real round downrange with no ill effects. Seventeen years later, I still have the remnants af that box at the cabin. I havent shot any since that night, but my pop's Single Six is still shootin', and it's more accurate than my Single Six.

From what I remember, they aren't all that loud (as a bystander having work done on our house). I don't think the tool that they are designed to work with are all that expensive.... still wouldn't be all that eager to try it though.
